The Great Narth Run. Yes, you read that right – “The Great NARTH Run”. Perhaps not quite as grand as the half-marathon in Newcastle upon Tyne with a similar name that every runner has heard of, but we’re hoping for great things nonetheless.
It’s all going to happen on Sunday 23 June 2013 in Maryland Woods near The Narth - a fun run for everyone aged 9 and over; a 5K race for over 11’s; and a 10K race for the over 15’s. This will be the first year the event has been held; the intention is that it will become an annual event. The aim is to provide a series of races that will appeal to runners of all ages and abilities, and provide a safe and enjoyable day out for runners and spectators alike. All the races are off road on forest tracks.
And to keep everyone fed and watered before, during, and after the races, there will be hot and cold drinks, bacon rolls, and a BBQ.
In August, over the Bank Holiday weekend, our friends in Ross will be arranging a run from Monmouth to Ross, and they have sent out a general invite to other runners. This will not be a formal race as it is intended to generate feedback and interest, which may in turn lead to the event becoming an actual race.
If anyone is interested in a long trail run that offers something a little different to our normal routes please contact Andrew Person at the email address within the attached document. Alternatively, let Alan know if you're interested and he will feedback to Andrew. Once again, this is just a 'toe in the water' run so club kit will not be necessary.
As usual our resident photographer Mike Shaw was out and about today and he has posted the pics on out Filckr page. Click the link below to see if you were caught on camera...
The Malvern Joggers with host their annual 10K on Wednesday 12th June (19:30 start).
It is the usual format - a Wednesday evening mult terrain race, with free food for runners and a real ale bar. There is a bit of added spice this year as the new race sponsor, Vasai Indian Restaurant will be supplying the food - a choice of vegeterian or meat curry.
For further information and/or enter the event click the banner above to visit their website
No real movement at the top after the penultimate race, so it all comes down to the last race of the season.
Dependent on who runs on Sunday the first three places are very much up for grabs.
As ABBA once sang, 'the winner takes it all'
As we await the results of today's Presteigne XC I thought it would be an ideal time to remind you all of some forthcoming races.
First up we have the Crocodile 8. This will be run on the second Bank Holiday weekend in May. A 3.00pm start ensures you can still have your Sunday morning lie in. Click the picture on the left to visit the website.
Magnificent Eastnor 7
Meanwhile, Sunday April 14th sees the return of the Magnificent Eastnor 7. Head over to the Ledbury & District Harriers website for all your entry details... and don't forget this constitutes race 9 of the Frosty 5 series, so if your looking to improve your standing this could be an ideal opportunity. .Once again, click the pic to visit the site

As some of you may know Matt Taylor is running this year's London Marathon in aid of charity. Throughout the coming months he will be organising and/or participating in various events to hopefully raise £1800 through his fundraising efforts.
First up is a plan to take a group of non-runners and get them to a point where they are able to complete a 5K run. His 'Counch to 5K' programme is semi-reliant on word of mouth, so if anyone knows somebody who has considered entering an event please pass Matt details onto them. The attached flyer provides the necessary details (click the pic on the left).
Next up is his 'Onesie' Quiz Night at the Rowing Club. Tickets will be £10, and the soiree will take place on February 22nd at 7pm. Onesie attire is optional! Once again click the pic (this time on the right) for full details.
As and when his other fundraising events are set in stone they will be posted within the Charities section on the website.
