New Years Day 10k Latest

The good news is that the race is still on for Wednesday , the bad news is that based on latest forecast conditions likely to be wet and windy but we know you all love a challenge.
If you are travelling by car please be aware that we will be unable to use the field adjacent to the Rowing Club car park because its still water logged. So once we have filled the Rowing Club car park traffic will be diverted to the Greyriars Council car park and then the Friar Street car park. Please try to arrive before 10am so that you have plenty of time to walk to and from race registration. We would like to close registration at 10.30am,as usual will do our best to cater for late comers but will not delay race start time.
We have a contingency plan to start the race off the Great Western Way if flood water prevents us accessing Belvedere Lane as last year but at the moment we do not forsee there being any such problems.
We will continue to monitor the conditions and advise of any changes.

New Years Day 10k Parking

If we are unable to use the field adjacent to the Rowing Club for parking because of the wet conditions we will need to direct the majority of race traffic to the car parks furthur up Greyfriars Avenue and Friar Street as per last year. These are pay car parks although this may be excluded on bank holidays perhaps someone can advise but best be prepared with small change just in case.

New Years Day 10k

Hope you all had a great Xmas

We still need marshals and helpers for the New Years 10k so if so if you are not able to run your support would be greatly appreciated. There are a large variety of tasks that need doing on the morning of the race and the more help we can get the easier it will be for everyone.

We will obviously be monitoring the conditions and providing updates if flooding is likely to be an issue. As last year the race will continue even if the towpath is flooded as we have a contingency course which starts and finishes of the Great Western Way. Short of the the Rowing Club House flooding the race will stlll go ahead.

Wet and Windy Fancy Dress Run

There was a surprisingly good turnout for the Fancy Dress Run on a very very wet and windy evening. Some great costumes were on show as you will see from the pictures on flickr. The best dressed contest was a close affair and the prizes went to Sue Sherwood and Harry Franklin. Many thanks to Chippy for opening his doors to the Wye Valley Crew and it was real nice to see Barrie who is recovering well from surgery.

Not sure what the late night shoppers in High Town made of it all!!

Merry Xmas
