Fforest Fields XC
Past Glories (Part Two)
Forget the running, forget New Year's Eve, the real event of the Xmas period will take place on Friday 28th December at 8pm.
Brian Symonds has once again arranged a club outting to the Taste Of Raj for a delicious indian meal. If you are interested in attending please put your name on the list which will be available at the Rowing Club from this week. However, due to the size of the restuarant it is recommended that you get your names down early to avoid disappointment.
There is also tell of continued drinking at the Barrels afterwards. Although I find this hard to believe as all our members are tea total, and dedicated to their training.
Updated: Now with added Frosty 5 !!!
Sam Clarke, Neil Marshman and Sue Sherwood have yet to be issued handicaps. A revised set of results will be posted to account for this
The votes are in, and the lines are closed... so without further ado here are the Fforest Field XC results...

Anyone who wishes to car pool, or follow someone who knows the route to the race, should be at the Rowing Club for a prompt 9am departure.
Don't forget there is the option of a shower post race but please be forward thinking with regard to not taking XC shoes, and extremely muddy kit, into the facilities.
See you all on Sunday morning!!!
A quick reminder that if anyone is interested in a later start time for weekday club runs please could you feedback using the form on the Membership & Contacts page.
Alternatively you can let me know on Sunday at Fforest Fields XC.

Race entries
We have received nearly 150 Muddy Woody entries within two weeks of the forms being available. With an entry limit of 350, please don't delay if you want to take part. It also makes our jobs much easier if you can pre-enter the New Year's Day 10K and there is also a £4 saving compared to entering on the day.
Christmas activities
We will be arranging various events to take place during the festive season, so please check the website for further details.
All the best.
Dave
Mike B has forwarded us a titbit of information regarding next Sunday's cross country. Some of you may find this extremely welcome!
Mike Speake (Builth & District R.C.) is the Race Director for the next XC League event to be held at Fforest Fields next Sunday. He has held talks with the Barstow family (the owners of the camp site) and they have generously agreed to allow the runners to use the newly built shower and toilet facilities on the premises. Their only request is that the runners do not enter the new building wearing spikes or muddy footwear. Please pass on this information to your runners and, if they would like a more civilised departure after a XC race, they need to bring along a towel and travel home fresh and clean (and possibly exhausted !). Things are much more refined on the western side of the border.Hot drinks etc. will be available. Many thanks to the Barstow family for their kindness, co-operation and hospitality in allowing us to run one of our league races on their premises. Many thanks , also, to Builth & District R.C. for all their hard work in organising this event.See you there.Mike B.
Andy Blackman has now confirmed the pick up points and times for the Xmas Party transport.
If you are travelling to Wye Leisure on the bus please visit our new Social Events section, and choose your collection point using the form at the bottom of the page. There is also a link to an interactive Google map if you want to see a more specific representation of the route.
Our latest web page has tonight gone live.
It is intended to be an open forum for any running related news stories, inside or outside of the club. Ranging from kit reviews, new routes you've discovered, race reports, etc. anything goes within this area.
So, if you have anything you would like to post, see an amusing story on the web, anything at all really, just let me know. I will then utilise the wonders of modern technology to pass it into the conciousness of the Wye Valley masses.
I look forward to your suggestions!
It is my great pleasure to let everyone know that Sophia & Ricardo are the proud parents of little girl
Luisa.
Sophia emailed Mike late last week, and had the following to tell us:

The next XC is just around the corner so no better time than the present to let you have the details.
The attached maps give the directions. Further info will be posted closer to the event.
A final reminder of the details for Sunday's race at Fforest Fields.
If you wish to car pool, or follow some one who knows the route, please be at the Rowing Club for 9am.
See you all on Sunday morning.
Mike B has emailed Dave to say he has discovered a T-shirt, with the slogan 'Wye Ultra, Why not?' printed on
it, in the boot of his car.
If it's your top, or you know to who it belongs, Mike will have it at the next race.
This message was brought to you by the letter.. P.. And the number.. 8 !!!!!
The latest update to the Frosty 5 handicap series has been performed and the results attached.
It's early days, but the running (pun intended) is being made by Mike Fawcett and Paula McGivern in the mens and ladies competitions respectively.
Be aware these are provisional results as several new runners have yet to be allocated a handicap. I'll update again once Mike returns from his travels. Until then here are the files:
Well the race was as hard as ever, but the glorious sunshine certainly made the trip worth the effort.
As usual there was a fantastic turnout from the Valley with several new runners getting their first taste of the cross country league. Both men and ladies teams put in excellent performances to claim second place in both competitions. After 2 races it looks rather tight at the top. Click the link below for the full result spreadsheet, and them peruse the photos above, provided courtesy of John Holdroyd.
The keen eyed among you will notice the website has gained another tab in the header of our site. These pages will be reserved for support and partnerships with charities and local organisations.
As such, the first entry regards the forthcoming Santa Run on Sunday 9th December. One of our illustrious members is organising the event and is hoping some of us can help out (I will be attending as a Santa!).
Click the logo for more information.
... a little reminder of our last outing at Dinedor.
Let's hope for a repeat team performance this weekend.
It is my great pleasure to announce that the entry form for the Muddy Woody 6 is now available.
The event has been scheduled to take place on Sunday 17th February 2013. Hopefully next year's race will have slightly less frost, and a whole lot more mud, than 2012.
So... with out further ado here is the form: Download Muddy Woody 6 entry form.
We look forward to seeing you in the new year.
Best Wishes

Oops!!
Thanks to a keen eye from Jan I have been notified of an error on the New Year's Day 10K form.
This has now been rectified and the updated form loaded onto the website

For those who would like to shave some time off the forthcoming Cross Country races Paul Bouston will be conducting one of his increasing famous speed sessions around the Bishop's meadow.
They will consist of 800m reps, and runners of all abilities are welcome. This is about improving yourself and not racing against other members of the club, so please do not feel that these sessions are beyond you.
There will of course be the usual club run for everyone who fancies a more sedentary amble around Hereford.

You've been waiting anxiously 6 months only to be faced with Elvis staring up at you with a big 'Sorry' printed across the London Marathon magazine. Now what are supposed to do next April, you ask?...
Well have no fear as all is not lost!!!
On Monday, December 1st the club will have its annual draw for the London Marathon places that we receive. So if you've received a rejection slip now is the time to let Matt Taylor know that you wish to be considered for the draw (or use the Contact page form to notify Alan Lewis). The only stipulations are:
So, get those notifications in and start preparing for one of the marque events in the athletics calendar.
