Can you help us? Club member Jan Edwards - missing

Our much loved Jan is missing - West Mercia Police issued the following statement. If you can help please get in touch with them.

MISSING || We’re growing increasingly concerned for 66-year-old Janet Edwards who has been missing since 2.30pm on Friday (10 December) from Hereford.

Herefordshire local area commander, Superintendent Edd Williams said: "This is very out of character for Janet and we are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare. If anyone has seen her or knows where she is please get in touch."

He continued: "Janet, if you are reading this, please get in touch with us asap, we want to make sure you are safe."

At the time of Janet going missing it is believed she was wearing a grey Raab puffa jacket, blue jeans and walking boots.

Winter Cross Country League - Race 3

We made the short trip down the A49 to Little Peterstow for the latest race in the winter cross country series. This was a new course around the orchards and although the weather was fine, not quite so balmy as the brilliant weather we had for the first two races. After the obligatory team photo in front of the Chucklebus, the runners lined up for the slightly manic downhill start. The runners soon settled into the first of the two laps of the orchards and adjacent fields. The course was still relatively dry and surprisingly quick, with only a few undulations. At the end of the first lap, Christian Jones led the way, closely followed by Steven Flowers. Ladies captain, Laura Tootell, was first through for the ladies. Positions didn’t change too much on the second lap, but Steven came through strongly to finish 18th, passing Christian in 22nd. The mens team was completed by Jeremy Jehan in 28th and Peter Flynn in 50th. This was the mens best performance so far, finishing 5th A team on the day. They are now in 9th place overall for the series. Laura had her usual steady run for 7th, Becki Ansfield 20th and Lorna Shaw, having another great run in 27th. Ever reliable super veteran Jan Edwards closed in the team in 38th. The ladies finished 5th on the day, but are unfortunately out of the series, having been unable to field a team in the first fixture.

Well done to all the other runners not mentioned here and many thanks to Monross Trailblazers for organising a brilliant race and producing another fantastic traditional course. We move onto Rotherwas for the next race on January 9th.

HEREFORDSHIRE  & BORDERS CROSS  COUNTRY  LEAGUE

RULES

1.     The League is for the benefit of clubs affiliated to the Herefordshire Athletic Association, with the aim of promoting cross country running within the county of Herefordshire. Other affiliated clubs around the borders may be invited at the discretion of the committee.

2.     The costs of the League will be shared between the participating clubs on a fair and equitable basis (to be agreed)

3.     Only first claim members of participating clubs will be eligible to compete.

4.     Guest runners will NOT be allowed.

5.     Club colours must be worn.

6.     Start time for each race will normally be 11.00 a.m.

7.     Numbers will be allocated to each team at the start of the league. Numbers must be displayed on the front of runners’ vests and attached at each corner with safety pins.

8.     Each individual runner will retain the same number throughout the season. The numbers issued are waterproof and re-useable. If the number is lost, the runner may not be able to compete in subsequent races. It is strictly forbidden for anyone to create their own number and may result in disqualification of the individual and their team.

9.     Team scoring will be based on the finishing positions in each race of the series. The  first  4  male runners  across  the  line  will  be  the  male ‘A’ team  of  that  particular  club;  the  next  4  finishers  will  be  the  ‘B’ team, etc. The first 4 female runners will be the female ‘A’ team, etc. The total of the finishing positions of these runners will constitute the team points for each race. The team with the lowest cumulative score will be the winner of that race. In the event of a tie on points, the team whose last scoring member finishes nearest to first place will determine the result. Team points from each of the 4 races will be added together and the team with the lowest cumulative total after the fourth race will be declared the winning team. In the event of a tie on points, the team that has recorded the most race wins over its opponent(s) in the 4 race series will be the winner. There will be an additional award for the best overall team - male and female (to be confirmed)

10.  Individual runners’ scores for the series will be the sum of the best 3 finishing positions from the 4 races.

11.  Trophies will be awarded to the overall Men’s and Women’s winners, and medals to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the following categories:

Junior Men (under 20)

Junior Women (under 20)

Senior Women

Veteran Women (in 5-year categories from 35 upwards)

12.  Veteran category status will be determined by age on the 1st October. For award purposes, competitors will remain within their category status, with the exception of the overall winner who may come from any category.

13.  A Challenge Trophy will be awarded to the winning Men’s and Women’s teams, to be held for one year.

14.  Each race to be organised by a different club. The “home” club will be responsible for the organisation of the race, including the issuing of course details and travelling instructions to other participating clubs. All races must be covered by a Permit issued by England Athletics or Wales Athletics. A course risk assessment must be undertaken, and First Aid cover provided. Each organising club must ensure that all race officials and marshals are fully aware of their duties and the nature of the course.

15.  Any disputes to be lodged, in writing, with the League Secretary within  10  days  of  the  relevant  race.
