MFN Cheque Presentation

The cheque presentation to Marches Family Network will be made on Monday October 27th at 7.30pm following the club run. We would like as many people as possible to attend the presentation particularly the principal fundraisers. A group photo will be take to mark the event. It looks like it will be a record breaking total.
The charity of the year for 2015 will be Midlands Air Ambulance and I am personally very grateful to them for their prompt response and treatment earlier this year - life savers .

Mighty Oak Nominations List

The Mighty Oak award is given annually to one female and one male club member in recognition of anything that they may have achieved or done throughout the year i.e. returned from injury, raised a great amount for charity or been a great all round member of the club.
Committee nominations for the 2014 award are:
Male: Bill Griffiths, Chris Walden and Antony Evans
Female: Sally Ware, Laura Tootell and Kelly Rose.

list they feel is most deserving of the award. Reasons for the committee nominations will be given on the voting forms which will be available at the AGM. You will also be able to vote by email mikelynn8@btinternet.com.

Herefordshire Winter Cross Country League - Race one 19th October

 

Click here for full details of the first race in the winter season. Hosted by our pals in Builth Club it's a great start to the season.
Sunday 19th October - starts 11 AM. Club vests must be worn - race numbers from Paul .
It's free to enter for  all club members 

Approx 9.7k, one lap, farm tracks, woodland, total climb approx 158m, max elevation 375m.

As its a bit of a drive to get there we suggest as much shared transport as possible - meet in the rowing club at 9.00 am to grab or lift offer a ride.

Winter XC Series

For the benefit of our many new members the Winter XC season starts on Sunday 19th Oct at 11 am venue Fforest Fields Builth Wells. All 5 Winter XC races are FREE to club members, brilliant courses and friendly rivalry. In order to participate you will need a club vest contact Paul Bouston or Les Chamberlain. You will also need to register your intention to run with Paul Bouston who will issue you with a race number for the series. Paul will advise as soon as the numbers are available.
We encourage participation in the series, it really is a great way to improve your running.

Super 8 Series

The 3rd Super 8 series proved to be another great success and is intended to encourage participation in local races. An incredible 48 ladies and 71 men registered a score during the 13 race series.
Many congratulations to the winners who will be presented with club sports gift vouchers at the AGM:

Laura Wins Inaugral Ladies Marathon

The inaugral Marathon organised by Hereford Running Festival was won by Stacey Morgan of Croft Ambrey in the incredible time of 2.47. Laura Tootell took 7th place in a very good time of 3.29 to secure victory in the ladies race closely followed by Nikki Childs who recorded a time of 3.32.  Picture of Stacey & Laura taken from Croft Ambrey web site.

 

Paul Jones (3.40), Kevin Artus (3.47), Steve King (3.55), Paul Watts (5.10) and Linda Wozencroft (5.36) did well to complete the course in exceptionally warm conditions for the time of year.

Super 8 2014 Final Results

Many congratulations to Laura Tootell and Steven Flowers - winners of the 2014 Super 8 Series.

Laura finished 50 points clear in the end - a resounding result. Consistency paid off for Jan Edwards and Lyn Compton who came in 2nd and 3rd place. Many congratulations to them.

Dan King paid the price for missing one race with Steven finishsing with a clear 22 point lead to take pole position. Paul Davies finished an excellent third despite missing today's race.

Well done to them all. A fantastic summer of running.

This year following feedback we added up the highest score rather than using the best 8 from 13 races. Let us know which systenm you prefer for future seasons.

Breinton 10 Results

Many thanks to all the runners, helpers and marshals for your support today. It really is a massive team effort to put on a race of this nature but very worthwhile based on the positive feedback we have received. Lots more about the race & pictures will be posted later but for now we will post the results so that you can check your positions and times.
