Just a reminder that for the first time Gord's 6 will be run on a Sunday morning rather that Saturday evening. The race venue was switched to Fownhope last year and is one of the most scenic courses in the country taking in meadows, riverbank and woodland trails with a climb up to Caplor Hill Fort. The usual selection of tea and cakes at the finish. All the money raised goes to local charities, this year Marches Family Network. You can enter on line via entrycentral using the link on the events page for those that prefer to enter by the traditional method you can dowload an entry form from the link provided.
Cotswold Relay meeting - Wed May 21st
Chris Mason and Paul Bouston are holding a short meeting after the Club run on Wednesday 21st May at 7.30 to see who is interested in the relay and which leg they would like to run.
If you havent ran this event before it comes highly recommended :
The Cotswold Way Relay is now in its 22nd year, operated as 10 back-to-back races, starting each stage with a mass start at the expected arrival time of the 1st runner from the previous stage.
Running from Chipping Campden in the early morning, through to the arrival at Bath Abbey in the early evening, using the waymarked route of the Cotswold Way as our route, the relay is over 90% off-road, taking in many hills, woodlands, fields and tracks, all offering spectacular views of the countryside around (if ever a runner looked up from the path to take it in!).
Super 8 after 4 races
After 4 races things are just beginning to look interesting.
Consistency is the name of the game for this Summers prospective champion. Every race counts - you must run a minimum of 8 - so if you dont race you don't score !
39 Wye Valley vests filled the streets of Hereford this week for the Bells race meaning lots of points to give away.
Jane Edwards staying power continues to pay off in the women's contest but can she hold on as the season progresses if Laura Tootells form continues?
Similarly Steven Flowers continues to hold on to the lead due to a consistent campaign - but Dan King could snatch it if Steve misses a race when Dan is on form. No pressure of course.
Brian Symonds in bronze medal position at the monent shows what staying power can do.

What not to wear....
With the Super 8, cross country and summer race season all upon us it seems like a good time to remind everyone what to wear! Club kit should be worn at all UK Athletics affiliated races - that includes all Super 8 Races and all cross country. Wye Valley runners is affiliated to UK Athletics - part of the deal for the club and it's members is that we wear club kit in all UKA races. The vast majority of people do this without thinking - so thank you. If you need a vest contact Paul Bouston or Les Chamberlain.
Thank you!

James Richards - flying the WVR Flag
James Richards, stalwart of the club for some time is pushing the boundaries to show what anyone can do with effort and determination. In typical fashion James needed a nudge to publicise his efforts - but we felt it important for club members of every ability to realise that given the right training programme, a certain amount of discipline(!) and determination- anything is possible.
James completed at the weekend in the National Duathlon Champs (10K run 42K bike and 5K run) in Yorkshire,
He finished 23rd overall nationally and got 3rd place Nationally for Vet and Age Group.
James is now hoping to have a go at winning a GB Age group vest on the 27th April in Stockton on Tees to compete at the European Champs later this year in Spain.. Congratulations and best wishes to James in his race to capture that GB vest.
