Planning is well advanced for the Breinton 10 Mile Road Race.
Competitors: There will be prizes in all the usual age categories and each finisher will receive a commerative glass tot with Breinton apple logo. The winning man and lady will receive a hand crafted trophy in the shape of an apple made by our club chairman Harry Franklin.
In the County Championship race in addition to the usual senior and veteran medals county championship cups will be awarded to the winning man and lady.
Marshals: We are looking for club volunteers to help marshal the course. If you are not planning to run the event but are available on the day your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

WVR Website editor(s) required
Evening everyone
I will shortly (October) be heading to pastures new, and will need to pass the updating of the website over to one, or more, interested parties.
Depending on the links, formating, etc. you decide to use for a post each item would take between 5-20 mins to upload. On top of this you would be required to answer mails submitted through the contact form on the website. The time to answer these is obviously dependent on the request but for standard answers you can use a template answer, so I'd estimate 2-10 mins per email.
For those with experience of websites, and who would be interested in maintaining the architecture, a more substantial period of time is required, but is once again dependent on requirements of the page. This would also depend on the software package you have to edit photos so they can be used on the webpages.
If you are interested in one or more of these jobs please could you send a message via the contact form on the 'Membership & Contacts' page.
Many Thanks
Alan

Richard Burton 10K
Something a little different to the normal races on offer here. Named after the immortal actor, this 10K takes place in Cwmafan. Scheduled for November 3rd this may be of interest if it doesn't clash with any local racing. Click 'Dicky' to visit the site.
Hay Hillraiser
A cheeky little 11 mile trot on the roads around Hay and its surrounding hills, and a perfect condition tester for those of you who are targeting an autumn half marathon. As always with a Hay Hotfooters event, the cakes at the end will be divine and the marshals around the course encouraging.
The race is on 1st September, so there’s just enough time to get in a couple of training runs. The application form is on the Hay website www.hayhotfooters.co.uk or you can enter online at www.runnersworld.co.uk just search for Hay Hill Raiser in the events section.

AGM & Xmas Party
Swansea Bay 10k
Swansea Bay 10k Sunday 22nd Sept: Based on the level of interest within the club we have booked a 49 seater coach for the eigth consecutive year. We currently have 30 names on the poster on the club notice board so still plenty of space available for those still undecided about the trip.
Wye Valley Runners subsidise the cost of the coach and fees are usually held at £5 per person. This is excellent value..
Following the race we will stop at the Bar Gallois in Port Talbot a very popular venue where we were able to obtain a three course meal for £13.
The race is a great opportunity to experience a big race atmosphere with a field of 3000/4000 runners including some elite Kenyan runners. The course is flat and fast with last year’s trip recording 13 pbs for the 10k distance.
You can enter the race on line using the Swansea Bay 10k web site. Race fees are £14.50 for affiliated runners and all finishers receieve a T-shirt, medal and sizeable goody bag. Still got some of last years Tres Semme Shampoo & Conditioner.
For the first time I will not be travelling down on the coach because I hope to complete the Gower Olympic Triathlon on the Saturday . If I survive I will join you all for 10k and meal at Bar Gallois. It will be just a very gentle jog around the course for me on Sunday. Ralph Lloyd as kindly offered to help organise the coach in my absence.
It really is a fun event and a great way to get to know other club members. I hear that now Phil Smith is retired we can look forward to a bumper quiz , wouldn’t miss it for the world!!!
