Club Handicap Race: Runners Info

We have 27 runners signed up for the club handicap race on Wed 22nd May which exceeds all our expectations as this is our first attempt at a race of this nature.
We are sure you will enjoy this fun event and it will certainly be interesting to see how the race finishes.
We will allocate each runner a race number on the night so please try to bring safety pins. Numbers will be in start order , first person away will be allocated number 1 etc.
The course is same as Summer 10k and we have some volunteers to direct you as you go around but the course will not be fully marshalled so if you are uncertain about the route take this opportunity to study the course beforehand. It's an easy course to follow ref attached route map.
The race will start in Belvedere Lane. Turn left and follow the road through to the Warham T junction. Turn right at the junction and follow the road to the next junction at Broomy Hill. Turn left here there is a sign pointing to Upper Breinton and the village hall. Continue along this road and turn left at the junction signed Breinton Church, Lower Breinton and Warham. Just follow the road around and turn right at the Warham T juction. Follow this road back to the finish turning right into Belvedere Lane.

Super 8 series after 3 races (UPDATED)

Click to download the fileOk, it took a while as I had to check through manually for the Wye Valley members who were missing an entry under club, but I think everyone is now accounted for... until I hear differently!!

Obviously the point situation has changed slightly but the current placings are as per my previous post.

This time I've also included a breakdown of each members scoring for the three races to date.

ENJOY!

Super 8 series after 3 races

Click to download the current positionsIt's early days in the Super 8 series but the deluge of races in the next few weeks will shape the competition ahead.

In the mens division Luke Mason's early season form has seen him collect maximum points from each of the 3 races to date. Meanwhile, consistant running from Hedd Jones and Craig Rees sees them occupying second and third respectively.

Nikki Tyler has laid down the challenge in the ladies competition, dropping only 10 points over the first events. Lynne Compton is close behind in second place, but expect Kathryn King, currently third, to mount a serious assault over the next couple of races.

Next up... Crocodile 8!

Update: It appears that some members were not listed as Wye Valley so I have missed them from the results. I will have to go through the full results and pull out our runners manually. Please bare with me as this may take a while but I will issue an update asap. Cheers, Alan

Fantastic Effort Today - Hospice Half Marathon

Just a fantastic effort by everyone in the club who supported the Hospice Half Marathon today what a worthwhile cause. It seemed like just about everyone in WVR was involved either running or marshaling.
Great job on the first water station and on the Grandstand Road Crossing.
We had so many runners and great performances particularly from our new members that it's difficult to single out individuals but Luke Mason your a real star a fantastic performance and just reward for efforts to win this event. Kathryn King another tremendous performance to finish first lady.
For your enjoyment I have posted about 80 race pictures which you can view by clicking the flickr link on the  web site.

Hereford Half Marathon

Just a reminder we are still looking for volunteers to help with marshaling the Hospice half marathon Sunday. Looks like we have the first water station covered but any extra hands appreciated. Les Chamberlain is heading up our water station team.
We need to start manning the first water station at 9.15am and you can go straight there. I can email you a water station instruction pack if it helps..
The hospice are looking for additional help at other points along the course so if you can help please attend the marshal meeting at the Leisure Centre at 9am.
All the best to all our runners it looks like there will be another fantastic turn-out. You can be sure of a lot of support around the course.

Club Handicap Race

Seems to be a reasonable amount of interest in the club handicap race scheduled for 22nd May see earlier post. Many thanks to all those that have already confirmed they would like to run.
Ideally we would like to calculate all the start times in advance of the evening so please let us know if you would like to participate.
Thanks,

Hereford Half Marathon Marshal Points

Just spoken to Nicki Lloyd from the Hospice and have confirmed that Wye Valley Runners will look after the first water station see map below. We need plenty of help on this water station as there is a high density of runners needing water at the same time.. There is a marshal meeting at 9am at the Leisure Centre which I and a number of others will attend. The hospice are looking for any additional help we can give them to cover other course marshal points around the course. Please help if you can it's a really worthwhile cause.

Super 8 series (after 2 races)

Click to download the current standingsI must apologise for the delay in posting this update... The old memory seems to be going!

It's early days but the races will come thick and fast as we push into, what we hope, is a much less wet summer than 2012!!

Next up will be the Hereford Half Marathon on Sunday. As usual, a large contingent of Wye Valley are expected to take part so let's hope for perfect conditions......

Club Handicap Race

If there is sufficient interest we are looking to trial a free fun club handicap race on Wed 22nd May with the first runner leaving at 6.30pm. Course will be same as Summer 10k, staggered start times will be based on your finishing time in the Summer 10k. We had 37 runners so lots of times to work with. Based on Summer 10k the slowest runner would leave 30mins ahead of our fastest runner.
Please let us know whether you wish to participate so that we can work out your start time in advance of the evening.
Course would essentially be unmarshalled but if anyone would like to help on the night it would be appreciated.
If you did not run the Summer 10k and would like to participate please let us know in advance of the night so that we have time to work out your start time based on your race times in other events..

Couriers 5k Series

Hope your looking forward to the second race in the Couriers 5k series wed. A number of you have asked whether this race counts towards the club Summer Championships. Just to clarify only the first race in the series is included in the championship but thats no excuse for not doing it. I'll be there even though my calf muscles are still hurting from the Summer 10k!!!

Quiz Nite Blues

Michelle and I are trying to establish likely numbers for the Club Quiz and Disco Nite in support of Hereford Haven Breast Cancer, which is just 2 weeks away, as interest appears way down on last year. We currently have more quiz prizes than names on the list on the club notice board so looking on the bright side at least everyone who attends should be a winner!!
We are trying to establish whether this is because a lot of members are leaving a decision on attending until the last minute. It will be extremely helpful if you could confirm your interest to the event organisers asap as we will need to confirm catering numbers to Hereford Rowing Club in advance of the evening
