Hereford Half Marathon
January 20, 2012
The St Michael’s Hospice organised Hereford Half Marathon will be run on Sunday May 13th from the Leisure Centre. An incredible 847 runners ran the individual event last year and many of our members participatedin the race. This is one of the biggest fund raising events in the Hospice calendar so your support would again be much appreciated for this years race.
A number of club members also help with marshaling duty. WVR have once again volunteered to man one of the water stations. If you are interested in volunteering please contact a committee member.
If you would like to contact the Hospice directly about this event please email Jane Hemingway: jhemingway@st-michaels-hospice.org.uk.
Thanks,
Mike
Shobdon Wood 6
January 17, 2012
The Shobdon 6 entry form can now be downloaded from the events section of the croft ambrey running club web site.
Guy Whitmarsh provided the following information:
‘ This Croft Ambrey Running Club organised event is a multi-terrain forest race which will be staged on April 22nd. There are free T shirts to all runners (pre-entries get to choose their size), and doughnuts and refreshments afterwards. The race starts at 11am in Shobdon Wood, just north of Shobdon village, between Leominster and Presteigne.’
This run received great reviews from Wye Valley participants last year particularly as the forest bluebells were in full bloom.

Club Photos Now Stored in Flickr
January 16, 2012
In future I will be storing race photos in flickr in order to make it easier to download and access. Race photos will no longer be stored on our web site except for the headline pictures.
Dave Stockley kindly provided us with a disc of photos that he took at the New Years Day 10k and these are the first photos I have stored on flickr.
You can access the new wye valley runners library on www.flickr.com/photos/wyevalleyrunners/
Hopefully you will find this a big improvement and it should allow more members and other runners to view and enjoy our race pictures. I look forward to your feedback.
Thanks,
Mike
Club Training Nights:Inclement Weather
January 14, 2012
With the best of intentions we recently cancelled a club training run based on local weather information which indicated that the Rowing Club car park was under water. In the event the Rowing Club car park and facilities were not flooded so the club run could have proceeded as normal.
This issue was discussed at last week’s committee meeting and in future we have decided to leave attendance or otherwise to individual members discretion and no notification will be placed on the club web site.
The guidance we can offer is that if there is a flood alert and you find the Rowing Club car park under water we suggest you use the Pay & Display car park at the top of Greyfriars Avenue , obviously you will need to pay the applicable parking charge. The car park would then become the temporary base venue for the training run.
Hope this helps,
Wye Valley Runners Committee
