Hill Training Sessions

November 16, 2011

We will be commencing  some hill training sessions on Wednesday 23rd November which should be particularly beneficial for those preparing for the Hundred House cross country.  There will of course  be the normal club training run for those that wish to avoid hill repetitions.

Croft Castle XC Review

November 13, 2011

What a great turn out from the club with a total of 40 runners representing Wye Valley exceeding the Castlemorton total of 39.  Jon Barnes (1), Luke Mason(3), John Pullen (4) & Stuart Moore (7) led the way for our 27 male runners once again securing first team position. The ladies also turned out in force and Alex Champ (6), Kathryn King (9) & Becci Ansfield (11)  secured 2nd  team place for Wye Valley. See full  results in attachment:   CROFT_XC_2011(1)

Croft Castle is a really challenging course and many thanks to Croft Ambrey for organising the event and the National Trust for giving permission for this race. The weather was once again really kind to us making it an enjoyable experience for spectators and runners alike. See club photos kindly taken by Kirsty and Sarah below.

Lisbon Half Marathon 2012

We are now looking to ascertain the level of interest in this trip and whether we can obtain a flight plus hotel package to cover most requirements. At this stage we are looking for an expression of interest and a notice will be placed on the club notice board in order to collect the names of all interested runners. No one is expected to make a firm commitment until the full costs are known.

We need to proceed to booking asap in order to secure the lowest package prices so the we need the full  list of names by Fri Nov 18th..

There will be a meeting at the Rowing Club the following week to assess degree of interest and look at the best package options.

Monster Dash Halloween Run

November 1, 2011

Thanks to everyone who turned up for Wye Valley’s  Monster Dash Halloween training run last night. It was very entertaining trying to figure out who was lurking behind some of the very scary face masks on display. A lot of effort went into the customes which was much appreciated, a particularly good display from the lady members, witches and ghouls galore.

Harry’s enchanted hat must be one of the highlight of the evening, it seemed to have a mind of it’s own. Not sure whether he is related to the Potter family. What next Dumbledore’s army and a game of quidditch.

Thanks so much to Ralph Lloyd for organising .
